Organising farm Science Clubs, both in rural schools and in the villages in order to induce in younger generation a liking for and an interest for agricultural and allied sciences and for scientific farming through supervised projects. Developing and maintaining the campus farms and demonstration units on scientific lines as the facilities for providing work experience to the trainees as also disseminating the latest technical know-how. Providing practical training facilities of the Kendra to the teachers and the students of vocational agriculture of the higher secondary schools. Imparting some general education to rural illiterates and school drop-outs in order to make them not only good farmers but also better citizens. Providing added training facilities in the areas of home making and nutrition education for rural community. Gradually enlarging the training facilities to encompass other important areas such as home crafts, cottage industries etc., consistent to the requirements of the integrated rural Development in collaboration with concerned organizations. Implementing all such schemes of the ICAR and other related organizations which intend to strengthen the training programmes of the Kendra.

KVK Reasi is providing the trainings like scientific fruit production, scientific vegetable production, IPM in cereals, INM in cereals and vegetables, importance of aromatic and medicinal plants, farmation and management of SHG 's, dietary patterns for the women and children, milk processing, vegetable and fruit processing, scientific rearing of the animals, control of infecious and contagious diseases of the animals etc to the farmers for skill development among them and also providing training to the extension personnel of the state agricultural department to abreast them about the present scientific agricultural crops cultivations. KVk is also laying FLD 's at farmer fields in both the Districts (Udhampur and Reasi). Through FLD 's scientific cultivation of different crops like wheat, maize, paddy, pulses, oil seeds, floriculture, vegetables, mashroom/ dhingri cultivations, sericulture etc is being done at farmer field to increase the production of the crops from the limited areas. From 1992 to 2008, the operational area of KVK was whole Pune district, but after the establishment of new KVK in the Pune district, the operational area is reduced to the 7 tehsils of Pune district. The Indian Institute of Horticultural Research is a premier institute conducting basic, strategic, anticipatory and applied research on various aspects of fruits, vegetable, ornamental, medicinal and aromatic plants and mushrooms. Popularly known today as IIHR, Bengaluru, the institute was the first Horticultural Research Institute in the country established by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research on September 5, 1967 at the ICAR Head quarters, New Delhi. Subsequently the institute was shifted to Bengaluru in Karnataka at Hessaraghatta on February 1, 1968. Dr.G.S. Randhawa was the Founder Director with whose vision, the institute started to grow. The institute took over the erstwhile National Horatorium of Karnataka Govt. at Hessaraghatta spread over 24.7 ha and started its activities. Later on, the institute acquired an additional 238ha.of land from the surrounding village, Ivarkandapura. The institute spread its sphere of research activities to the length and breadth of the nation by establishing its experimental stations at Lucknow, Nagpur, Ranchi, Godhra, Chettalli and Gonikopal. Over the years the experiment stations at Lucknow, Nagpur, Ranchi, and Godhra have grown in size and today they stand as independent institutes. As of now, the IIHR has its Main Research Station at Hessaraghatta, Bengaluru and Horticultural Experiment Stations at Bhubaneshwar in Odisha and Chettalli in Karnataka with two Krishi Vigyan Kendras located at Gonikopal in Kodagu and Hirehalli in Tumkur districts in Karnataka state. Apart from this, the institute houses Project Coordinating Unit of All India Coordinated Research Project on Tropical Fruits at its campus.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organisation under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare , Government of India. Formerly known as Imperial Council of Agricultural Research, it was established on 16 July 1929 as a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 in pursuance of the report of the Royal Commission on Agriculture. The ICAR has its headquarters at New Delhi. The Council is the apex body for co-ordinating, guiding and managing research and education in agriculture including horticulture, fisheries and animal sciences in the entire country. With 101 ICAR institutes and 71 agricultural universities spread across the country this is one of the largest national agricultural systems in the world. The ICAR has played a pioneering role in ushering Green Revolution and subsequent developments in agriculture in India through its research and technology development that has enabled the country to increase the production of foodgrains by 5 times, horticultural crops by 9.5 times, fish by 12.5 times , milk 7.8 times and eggs 39 times since 1951 to 2014, thus making a visible impact on the national food and nutritional security. It has played a major role in promoting excellence in higher education in agriculture. It is engaged in cutting edge areas of science and technology development and its scientists are internationally acknowledged in their fields.

Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) started functioning from 2001 in Umiam, Meghalaya in the premises of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region. This is a single window system to allow optimistic interaction between farmers and scientists for effective technology transfer and livelihood improvement. The outstations regional centers and Krishi Vigyan Kendras situated in different districts are also involved and part of the system for meeting the requirements of the farmers in various areas of farm activities. Presently, the centre is functioning in the ATIC Building along the proposed Highway and is opposite to the Headquarters of the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam (Meghalaya).

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (AH&D) - now renamed as Department of Animal Husbandry Dairying & Fisheries (DADF) is one of the Departments in the Ministry of Agriculture and came into existence w.e.f. 1st February, 1991, by converting two divisions of the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation namely Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development into a separate Department. The Fisheries Division of the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation and a part of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries were later transferred to this Department w.e.f. 10th October, 1997. The Department is responsible for matters relating to livestock production, preservation, protection from disease and improvement of stocks and dairy development, and also for matters relating to the Delhi Milk Scheme and the National Dairy Development Board. It also looks after all matters pertaining to fishing and fisheries, inland and marine. The Department advises State Governments/Union Territories in the formulation of policies and programmes in the field of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries. The main thrust areas are: Development of requisite infrastructure in States/UTs for improving productivity, Preservation and protection of livestock through provision of health care, Strengthening of Central livestock farms (Cattle, Sheep and Poultry) for development of superior germ plasm for distribution to states and, Expansion of Aquaculture in fresh & brackish water, and welfare of fisher-folk etc.
